So, an alternative to prayer, then

Okay, if the results of something that you try to do are equally attributable to chance as prayer, here’s how you can go about making sure all your endeavors are the most likely to succeed!

  1. Instead of wasting your time on prayer, work your ass off for the desired result!

Wow! A one-step plan! You may not succeed, but at least you can’t blame god on the results! If you don’t pray for success, your mind is available to figure where you went wrong! And here’s the exciting part: if you can figure out where you went wrong, you can modify your behavior for an increased chance at success in the future!

Seriously, if you can’t rely on god to help you succeed (sometimes the answer is “No” or “Not yet”), then what’s the point if you can’t even figure out why god said no (god works in mysterious ways)? Your best bet is to forget prayer, and use that extra time to work harder for what you want. If god is that capricious, then you are more able to rely on your own hard work! It can’t fail!

Except that it can, but at least you can learn why if you don’t include god in the equation!

As Jim Morrison said, “You cannot petition the Lord with prayer!” (Soft Parade)

You can, however, give thanks for the blessings the Lord has bestowed upon you, and use your talents to succeed in life and to help those less fortunate. Or, if you’re like me, you can beg His forgiveness for squandering those talents on selfish pursuits. He doesn’t help you pick lottery numbers.

Well, my parents bestowed my blessings on me, imperfect and loving as they are. I can no more thank god for being smart as I can curse him for being plain.

All I can give thanks for is how I’ve used my virtues: for that, I thank myself and those people that have helped me succeed. God has had nothing to do with it, and if he existed would deserve no thanks of mine.

Why not just pat yourself on the back for your own talents? And why would the “good lord” pick me out of all the deserving people out there. There are more failures in life than huge successes. Why not give us all a chance to do well? Well, that may be because:
GOD IS IMAGINARY and you are totally wasting your time counting on a sky fairy to get the best that life has to offer.

I heartily agree with above statement because it makes total sense.
