A Damn Good Congressman

February 8, 2008

Rep. Ron Paul has co-sponsored legislation that would prohibit the Secretary of Veterans Affairs from collecting  payments on Montgomery GI bill loans from families of soldiers who have died in combat. The bill is H.R.5148, introduced by Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-TX). According to the article:

The Combat Veterans Debt Elimination Act would wipe the slate clean for these grieving families, giving them the peace of mind that the sacrifice their loved one made on behalf of a grateful nation is honored.

This is definitely more worthy legislation that H.R.888. Well done, Congressmen! Rep. Paul does well in Congress, which seems to be a good fit for him. At least he won’t be leaving the race with nothing, like Romney.

Clicking on this bill, and expecting to see the 20 pages of gobbledy-gook that I usually do, I was surprised and happy to see that it is basically one page.

You would think this would be a no-brainer. Kudos to all who sponsored and co-sponsored it. Paul has always done well by our veterans.

P.S. Like the new layout !

It is good that some in Congress are keeping in mind that there are other ways to help the veterans than just ending the war. Obviously, ending it is the first priority, but with this shameful administration, they need help at home, too.
